They were a running team and play action pass off that. Their running game went to hell and now this is what ya got. Might as well get rid of Gurley. He has become useless if you aske me

The same thing that happens to most other teams that have a sensational year, they fall back into the pack

Sustaining success is hard, maybe players (and coaches) take success for granted. Once they reach that pinnacle, they think they're just going to stay there. Or maybe other teams figure them out and they don't make enough changes.

Almost every NFL team regresses after a great season. Many MLB teams do as well. There's no regression in the star driven NBA, but that's the only sport like that.

I drafted Gurley in fantasy and when i watched week 1 this season vs Carolina, i thought "oh crap, he's not right".

The thought Henderson from Memphis was going to be a stud this season and he hasnt done anything.

I dont think Goff is that special. In the past 2 years, he has had a bunch of skilled players around him. Those players were all beat up this season so they never flowed.

Going to be interesting to see what the rams do in the next few years. They have a few players locked into HEAVY contracts (including Goff). They gave up 2 number 1 picks for Jalen Ramsey so we know that he'll be making $$$$ soon

Panthers, Falcons, Eagles, Rams last 4 NFC SB teams....Tough to stay on top.....Schedule gets harder, you don't run as well with injuries, FA defections, guys get older, etc. That's the great thing about the NFL is that it is constantly evolving in so many different ways.

Rams problem specifically is their OL was reliant on a 37 year old left tackle playing at a pro bowl level. Lost a few other guys as well. And Goff is terrible against pressure.

Now that teams have adjusted to their play-action, they will have to adjust their offense against the better defenses in the league.

Good write-up from before the season on why Rams could decline in 2019

Natural regression. At work so don't have the numbers but when you have ridiculous health, win expectation, to margin, etc. Those stats inevitably fall back to the mean. It can be the difference in 3 or 4 games.

This team is so fucked .
Paying a top 15 QB at best top 1 money .

Salary cap hell

Gave 2 1st round picks for a corner back without even signing him to a contract .

So they either spent 2 1st on a 10 game rental on a 8 win team or they going to have to make him the highest paid cornerback in NFL history putting them in even worse salary cap hell.

Gurley contract , Cooks contract . I can go on and on.

I can make the case that their 5 year future is the bleakest of any other team in the league .

They will finish dead last in the nfc west next season

Selecting the wrong QB at Number One rather than a longterm OL or DL doesn't help sustain excellence

2016 NFL DRAFT QBs

1) J Goff
2) C Wentz
26) P Lynch
51) C Hackenburg
91) J Brissett
93) C Kessler
100) C Cook
135) D Prescott
